To All This May Concern,
Now I'm not writing this thread to judge everyone who comes into this form. Neither do I wish to provide an unfavorable notion that Armenianplanet.com serves as a "bad" example of web sites which should not exist. I have often come to this web site because (in my opinion) it is important for sites that commemorate and celebrate the Armenian identity to exist. Armenians have to make themselves known to non-Armenian cultures. At the same time its important for us to set a good example about who we are.
The notion of an Armenian web site that encourages discussion amongst Armenians in the Diaspora is welcome. The existence of an "Armenian Girls" or "Armenian Guys" forum is up to the creator of this web site. However, what bothers me is a lack of comprehensive standards to preserve both the integrity, and identity of people whose pictures are posted.
I do not have a problem with those people who willingly post their pictures, because after all we are human, and have a right to make decisions for ourselves (as individuals). Nonetheless, it is wrong to display pictures of those people who have their pictures unwillingly posted without consent. I am sure there would be those of you who would be disgusted if your picture was posted here, your integrity defamed, and your identity compromised. For those of you who post pictures of others without their consent, please rethink what you're doing, because you may be hurting someone else.
