Ego is nothing but an identification with your mind. Ego exists for one reason, to make you think you lack something. Ego is based on fear and insecurity. The temporary high from the ego is always, I mean always followed by the worst low, self-loathing feelings and anger.
Please don't project your mind onto others although it is not possible because that's all I do. Even now what I am doing comes from my own head based on my own perception, values, education, status, sex, etc, etc, etc.
I have found out the only way to eliminate the ego is to watch it and guard the entrance and see it when the bastard rears its ugly head. That's all I do and it disappears like a puff of smoke. I cannot fight it because that's exactly what it wants. How can I fix a problem with a problem. Fighting it will create more confusion, doubt, conflict and strife and that's exactly what ego feeds on. All I can to is to overcome it by yielding to it.
Try to see yourself in relation to everything else including your own thoughts. Be patient and watchful. It will sneak in many many many times from a very unexpected, never before known entryways, but be patient and watch it. It will eventually disappear from your life and you will experience magical events in your daily life. Perhaps for the first time you'll feel what it's like to be a human being with all it dignity and honor.
Life without ego is like a life of a true king and a warrior. Nothing can stir the surface of your peaceful waters. Bliss, peace and confidence will rule your days and nights.
It is important to recognize one fact, that the ego can and has hurt and degraded a person to a point where he commit a suicide only to satisfy the ego's craving for attention. Ego wants to be validated at all costs and all the time. Good example is the guy who cause the Metrolink accident in Glendale just to gain the attention of his estranged wife. This is a perfect example of the ego at work. Beware, watch it, watch your thoughts and ego will run away. It is very inflated and comes across as big and intimidating, but in reality it is nothing but a clatter in your mind. Slay it and you'll be invincible. _________________ thistooshallpass

Does your ego get the best of you?
It depends on my level of inebriation.

The actual (original/classic) definition of "ego" is very different from this new-agey angle in the video......the video tries to make it sound more "intriguing" than it actually is.... in the simplest terms, the ego is simply the mediating mechanism between the Id (irrational, pleasure-seeking) and Super-ego (moral) parts of our brain.... its function is to resolve conflict between id and super-ego..... end of story...
