She can't do it . Ive been watching her for weeks now, and she cant do it. Day by day she tires, laughs it off and fails. She starts off slowly, picks up speed and loses her place. Maybe she wasn't ment to be on the swim team. She can hold her breath for a long time, but her muscles give in after twenty minutes into practice. I feel frustrated just like her. She still doesn't seem to notice me. I'm always there, sitting on the benches, watching her, while she tires to push her arms and legs as hard as she can so she could at least have another second in the water.

Feeling defeat, she climbs out of the water and gets her clothes on. walks out of the gym, and I'm left alone. Weeks pass, and I haven't seen her once. She isn't anywhere. Did she really give up ? I cant believe it. I stand there, staring into the motionless water, hoping, praying that she will appear out of my head and into my eye sight.

Doors bang, and she faintly walks toward the water.
Black long hair tied into a neat bun, wearing a pink tank top and shorts.
She jumped into the water, swum around and glanced at me for the first time.
No emotion. No smile. She just stood there, watching me, as if trying to say if I enjoy watching her fail.

Then, she turns away from me, and swims again. The graceful backstroke, the beautiful butterfly. On and on.

I'm mesmerized and scared at the same time. It's been 40 minutes and nothing happened. No cries and no laughter of failure. I'm proud and she's happy.

She gets out of the water satisfied, smiles and approaches me while I walk toward her with a towel.

She stares into my eyes with her deep blue eyes and says " Thank you".

Confused I smile back nervously. "You did it, after all this time, I'm happy for you."

She gave me a wink and walked away and Im left alone to fantasize about her once more.

But that day two miracles happened. She pushed past her limits and I . . . and I spoke with the girl of my dreams which who would soon become the love of my life.

A charm invests a face
Imperfectly beheld.
The lady dare not lift her veil
For fear it be dispelled.

But peers beyond her mesh,
And wishes, and denies,
Lest interview annul a want
That image satisfies.
