Maybe you're too young to understand, that's the only thing I can think of -- but when you start having to worry about bills, your goals, your social life, family issues, personal issues... having some guy/girl causing further drama in your life can be extremely distracting.
When you're young and in highschool, doing nothing but procrastinating on your homework and browsing Myspace -- ya, a boyfriend/girlfriend is hardly distracting... it's entertaining.
I'm on the same page as qutiiiee3 -- girls are far too ridiculous and hypocritical for me to deal with right now, other than playful flirting here and there; I'm on the verge of making a big career move so I'm enjoying the peace that is normally destroyed by girl drama.
