oh BTW there are a lot of Armenians now in the movie business, there were a couple designers (not the proper term) on the Simpsons movie, and some previous movies i saw had some Armenians in it also (blades of glory.)

Yeah, producers usually look over a movie and do the funding (Executive Producers).

So let's see all the Rush Hour movies were producing by this man, and directed by a Jew (Brett Ratner)....cool.

Yeah there are alot of Armenians in the movie biz, but we're usually not in front of the cameras.

I met & chatted with some Armo lesbo that works in some production department of the Simpsons at the Silverlake Lounge between band changes.

Cool. Thanks for the link. It was good stuff, I'll definitely try and make it that evening.

You're awesome V8! Anybody else would have thought my name was just a substance abuse problem for footwear! But yes, I love shoegaze, indie (well, in my younger days, it actually was indie) and now indie=mainstream, blah...blah...before I got off on a tangent about the politics of music, I'll keep it short and sweet.

I couldn't find a myspace for him but check out Jens Lekman. He's nothing but swedish goodness and he's playing at the Troubadour in early-mid November. I'm there! :P

Heh, seriously! If Geffen Records is paying for your studio time, uh, you're not indie!

I couldn't find an official myspace for Jens Lekman either. He's pretty cool & mellow. For some reason, his sound reminds me of Band of Horses or Beirut. The Troubador isn't far at all. I used to go there all the time. Good times.

You're right, there are a bunch of cool sounds coming out of Sweden it seems. Some unusual electronic, synth, or whatever stuff emerging too.

Have you heard of The Knife? They are from Sweden too. The Knife singer sang on a Röyksopp tune too.

As Number 2 retorted to Number 6's question of identity, "That would be telling."

Yes! I like the Knife. Thanks for the links. And it's so funny you mentioned Beruit because I listened to the latest album last night on the way to a movie **(The Darjeeling Limited). As for Band of Horses, before the links you provided, I had only heard the song on the radio "Is there a Ghost," but I quite like them. It's nice to meet someone here who listens to good music.

Honestly, I'll pretty much travel anywhere in California to see a show. I haven't been to any of the clubs downtown recently. Actually, my favorite place to see a show used to be The Glass House in Pomona (have you been there?) but the last show I went to had horrible sound. As for the Troubadour, I've thankfully gotten a chance to be present for some super cool bands back in the day (i.e. Camera Obscura, At the Drive-In, Gene).

Anyhow, you’re adorable V8, and your responses in some of these threads(?) (Sorry, still new to this! hehe) are so witty and hilarious.

p.s. Since this is a movie thread(?) The Darjeeling Limited is pretty good. It's not as intellectually stimulating as other Wes Anderson fillms, but it still rocked.

Camera Obscura is cool. I haven't heard the other two, or I don't recognize the names. (I'll look 'em up)
Never been to the Glass House (I hate driving) but I saw Morrissey at the Hollywood Palladium on the 11th. I took some video but it is so shaky I'm embarassed to upload them to YouTube!
Do you like Blonde Redhead?

Cedric and Omar from Mars Volta and one of the guys from Sparta were in At the Drive-In (seriously one of the greatest bands ever!) Gene is classic. They are sometimes referred to as the "Karaoke Smiths." Actually, Morrissey was at that show. I adore Moz. I missed ALL of his shows this last time around and I'm quite bummed. Although I have seen him perform over a half a dozen times. How was the show? Did he perform any Smiths songs? The last time I saw him was at the Hollywood Bowl. It was a beautiful concert. oooh! I love love love Blonde Redhead. '23' is the best album of 2007, Hands down!
