Lady s, I get what your'e talking about, no I haven't been there directly, altough I wanted so much to be there near the lake and I think that there is also a scientific mission there.
all I know from aragatz is passing in front of it either to go to amberd, purakan, from one side, and on the way to north, after aparan on the way to spitak, stepanavan up to hagpat from the other side. I will surely post pictures from those places

I'm not sure of what scientific mission you are talking about, but along the same road is Amberd. Next time you go to Armenia definitely go visit. They also have set up tents, and I believe they were in the construction process to building a restaurant when I was there, and they serve fresh kash along with fish from the lake. They are actually known for their kash, but I didn't like it that much but the fish was really good. I have a picture that I took there and if I have time to edit the picture so that I am not in it, then I will definitely post it later.

nice picture Lady S, I think that the reflection of the moonlight in the waters of this lake originated the legend of 'lousavorichy kantegh'. so from what I did understand is to park the car at amberd and climb the mountain by foot. is it correct pls?

Thanks hkd1, actually this picture was taken in the morning/afternoon time so the reflection in the lake is not of the moon but instead of the snow on the hills. Yes, we also went to Amberd right after Aragats and after you park your car, it's a rough pathway/road that you have to walk to get to the Amberd. It's a good place to visit if you like historic monuments then again Armenia is mostly based upon history with all its churches...lol. Did you by any chance visit the home/ museum of Sergei Parajanov?

yes, I've been at Amberd, it was 2000 but as at that time I did not have a digital camera, I still got the films and will give to the shop to copy them on disc, there are a lot of pictures there to post and among them the home/museum of Parajanov. In fact I've been
in Armenia 4 times, first during 2000 (Armenia + Artsakh), and only Armenia during years 2003/4/5. My next trip is scheduled during 2009 and will be mainly in Artsakh

Very nice, I myself have been there 3 time already in the past 7 years but I've just been to Armenia. The next time I visit, which is not anytime soon, I definitely want to visit Artsakh. I've heard its a beautiful place and look forward to seeing it. As for the Parajanov museum, that was a work of art as to how one man can create such unique art from imagination and scraps that he found.

Nice pics. Although I've been to Amberd I hadn't noticed that it had a church by it lol...I guess thats because it might have been closed when we were there. Anyhow that white church looks nice, I'm assuming that is in Artsakh. Most definitely my next trip to Armenia is going to have a tour of Artsakh in it! Did you by any chance go to the Sagmosavank church? It is located on the way to Ashtaraki Dzor. I ask that because some people that live over there have never heard of the place and the church has a very nice view located just off a cliff.

Lady S, here is a picture of the site I took from the back side of Sagmosavank church, think it's what your'e refering to, at the deep down there is the kassakh river
concerning the white church, it's the St Saviour church (XIX century) situated on the main road in the middle of Shoushi, better known as Gazanchelots or Gazanchetsots. this church used to be when under the azeri occupation an ammunition warehouse, and when they left the place, they left also a huge amount of their ammunition, and later on the church was completely renovated

hkd1, thats exactly the church I was referring to, thanks for uploading the picture. This has to be one of the nicest views that a church has in Armenia, my other favorite is of course the view from Khor Virab of Mount Ararat.
