Some more photos from my trips away from home and some from my back yard. The other day I counted 50,000 photos in my library. It is time to sort them. I found that with digital camera I always end up with multiple photos and I always cannot decide which one to keep and which one to discard.

Awesome stuff!
What lens do you use? I use a 18-135mm non VR Nikon Lens. I'm planning to get the 18-200mm VR lens, but it's mighty expensive.
I too have that problem with not being able to pick a picture, I just burn all of them to DVD blanks and figure it out later. |

Thanks. I use Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Medium Telephoto Macro Lens for Nikon SLR Cameras and Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO-M. _________________ thistooshallpass |

Thistooshallpass, can you tell us more about this photo?...
Where'd you take it? What was the elevation there? Is it Photoshoped in any way? I can't tell if those are low-level clouds or what. It almost looks like you're straight in line with the horizon of the clouds...lol _________________ "Kef anoghi kef e yerpek chi paksi." |

No photoshop was used. Those are real colors and elements. This photo was taken in Big Sur, CA from the porch of my remote cabin which is 2 miles above the Pacific Ocean. I was there on one of my scheduled silent retreats. It was afternoon and I was above the clouds. In fact time did not exist at this moment. It all was very quiet, serene and mysterious and I was all by myself in an isolated rustic cabin. The photo with the moon was taken the same night as far as I remember. That night was just magical and outside of any concepts I might come up with. _________________ thistooshallpass |

Lady S.
I do photography as a hobby and as an outlet to express. I'll post some of the flower shots in micro mode. Sorry for posting so many.

It is a silent retreat in the grounds of a Benedictan Monastery. You have to stay by yourself. There aren't many modern amenities except running water (trickle) and a bathroom and a small shower. The whole setup is very rustic. You stay in a remote cabin by yourself surrounded by wilderness. You can't talk to anyone either since it is a silent retreat and tries to encourage reflection and self-inquiry, etc. To tell the truth there aren't any people to talk to either except the monks, few other searching souls that want to mediate in silence and isolation , not counting yourself. All of a sudden you're aware of your every thought. You talk to yourself. At first it is amusing, then it becomes old and repetitive, then it stops altogether, and there... you have silence wrapped with peace. Inner silence. _________________ thistooshallpass |

Are you sure? You'll become a nut case like me
I go there twice a year and stay in isolation with myself and what is for 4-5 days. Ironically since going there I have come to love the life in LA and in anywhere I find myself. As the old Chines saying goes "wherever you go, there you are."
Go to http://www.contemplation.com/ This is their web site. Give them a call and reserve a spot either in the clustered cabins which are 5 or 6 next to each other and closer to their temple/church, and then there are the remote cabins/trailers. The clustered cabins are $70 and the isolated cabins are $80 (the cheapest motel in that area is $150 a night).
The reservations have to be made 6 months in advance because it is always booked, unless there is a cancellation. The place itself is a blessed and peaceful place that will transform you profoundly. It is 278 miles from Glendale, CA and is off Pacific Coast Highway. I am including some photos of the inside of the cabin, the all vegetarian dishes they server once a day, and photos from the grounds and the walking paths. By the way there is one photo that is the same view as the one with fog and clouds but on a clear day. I wish you the best and if you ever decide to go, I would love to know about your experience.
1. This is inside the cabin when it's dark and I am all alone with my books as my companion.
2. This is around 4:30am watching the dawn from my porch with a hot coffee keeping me warm.
3. This is the same scenery as the one with clouds.
4. The next photos are taken while on my morning walk.
5. The lunch is all vegetarian but the darn thing is one of the best meals one can have.

Hkd, first, make sure your image is of .JPG, .GIF, or .PNG format. Then, when you upload the image, a link shows up with the image tags attached: [img]*******[/img]. Copy and paste that whole link and it should work. Good luck. _________________ "Kef anoghi kef e yerpek chi paksi." |
