Just wondering if any other AP members practiced the sport and wanted to share their favorite techniques while rolling.

Best thing would be to practice actually doing some wrestling techniques that will help iwth BJJ. Wrestling focuses on explosivness and that will help increase ur strenght, speed and attack speed, but if ur under skilled you will get cought in something.

Strenght training with no protien increase will help a hell of alot. I havnt gained anything and doubled my strenght in certain areas.

will do on the strength training. my problem is not so much getting caught with people at my level as it's having a shitty offense.

That's cool, how high up did you get in 4 years? Or were you doing no-gi?

Docando is an Armenian martial art created by Gor Vardanyan. It is mostly karate mixed with Judo and Muay Thai. Didnt really do belts there, just trained with some people in my profession.

Did you ever train with Gokor Chivichyan, by any chance?

Judo sounds brilliant and I really want to get to work on Sambo. Anybody you can suggest?

Very cool to hear you got up to purple+3 stripes. You're a force to be reckoned with, my friend.

Yes actually, Gokor Chivichyan, Sako, Aram, Manny and Karo all back in the day.

I suggest Hovik Tadevosyan, that guy is a beast.

That is his Kata in Las Vegas.

Thanks, but I fight better with no gi. I find I have better grip when there isnt clothing in my way, sounds weird even to me though.

What'd you think of Manny and the guys at the time you trained there? I figure Gokor's an excellent person to train with since Gene is also at his dojo (and that man ain't gettin' any younger!).

That's Gevorg Petrosyan, the dude is very quick and intimidating. Instructor for Muay Thai told us about this guy and he really is good and calculated.

<3 Mousasi. Gegard is an exceptional fighter and I can't wait 'til he defeats every damn Light Heavyweight fighter to claim the ultimate throne.

Manny is very very short and is easy to underestimate him. I am 6'3 ish and he is like 5'4. You can imagine how I would think I can kick his ass, but he pounces on you like a wild man haha.

Karo has great take downs that he uses effortlessly. I liked Sako better than Gokor, Gokor relied too much on submissions while Sako had a balanced system of submissions and takedown defenses.

Gene really is hilarious. He had his own damn shower there haha. One shower, all his.

I see. I'm not really a huge fan of karate. I did around three years of Tae Kwon Do and it feels insufficient when you go up against guys that don't use the same techniques.

Its funny, when I joined the police station, they had a basic fighting course you have to complete, and it was literally like the warm up phase of BJJ haha. The most basic of punches, kicks and defenses. I spent 4 months of my probationary period as an instructor OF the instructors in martial arts. A REAL advantage.

It's good if you can make sure your opponent keeps their distance. Seeing how most fights have people getting close to one another I find that Muay Thai provides a great balance.

Steven Seagal-ing that s*** I see, huh? LOL

That's funny to hear about Gene and his shower. I'd definitely like to get a few pointers from him because from what I've heard he's an outstanding boxer. I've actually never seen Sako do anything but I'll trust your word that he balances it out better. Still, Gokor may concentrate heavily on submissions but they've always worked for him so I don't see why he shouldn't.

Interesting anecdotes about Manny and Karo. It's a shame what happened to Karo in the UFC.
